SATURDAYS: 4pm-6pm
The Fishing Show team is Michael Guest, Gavin Pitchford and Roman Butchlaski. Michael Guest’s love of all things aquatic was instilled at a young age, fishing, spear-fishing and windsurfing. His passion has grown into an addiction and whether it is catching bait off the wharf, teasing Marlin on the continental shelf, or crashing through undergrowth and casting at bass this is where he is most at home. A fisherman with the environment at heart, Michael loves to spend time fishing with his family. Catch and release and take only what you need are the two philosophies Michael wants to instill in all young anglers. From the watery depths to dusty roads Michael cut his teeth in the most spectacular of motorsports - rallying. Wins at State, National, Asia/Pacific and International level elevated him to be the first Australian to tackle a regular ride in the World Rally Championship. Building and running his own rally cars in the early days has given him an intimate knowledge of race-craft engineering. This skill has been used to develop engines, suspension and tyres for manufacturers. If it’s got an engine Michael can get the most out of it whether it’s a car, boat or quad bike. Roman “Butch” Butchaski started fishing at the age of 3 and is still going strong at 63! From Marlin to Mackerel in the salt to Trout, Bass, Jungle Perch in the fresh he has caught them all! As well as a stint as a commercial fisherman targeting yellow fin tuna, Kingfish and Snapper off the N.S.W coast and Spanish Mackerel and Coral trout on the great barrier reef, Butch has travelled extensively around the Pacific (Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands) chasing Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo, and Mahi Mahi. These days Butch fishes shore based nearly every day in his home waters of Sydney Harbour, with occasional trips to Lake Macquarie to fish with his long time fishing mate John-Paul Young, and the odd foray up to the Big Bass and Barrn impoundments of Queensland. He would like nothing more than to share his knowledge and experience with listeners to the fishing show, especially the younger generation of fishers.
So give him a call!
